A Visit to Agra – My Agra Yatraa Experience

Taj Mahal in Agra, India is one of the seven wonders of world. Visited by thousands of visitors per month from India and abroad, it is one of the famous tourist spot of India.

We a group of 4 friends planned to visit to Agra last summer. It was my first visit to Agra. As we have a friend who is a local resident of Agra, there was no need of hotel booking or arranging for any guide. We booked flight tickets from Kingfisher airlines and 3 days later we were on the flight to Agra from Delhi Airport. I was very much excited as this was my first trip to Agra and my first chance to view the majestic Taj Mahal that I had seen only in magazines, newspapers or television. Within one hour we reached Agra airport and it was a great journey.

We reached Agra in the evening and moved to our friend’s house. Next day we reached Taj Mahal in the morning. Taj Mahal is really an architectural wonder of world, situated on bank of Yamuna River. Taj Mahal rises on red sandstone topped by a huge white marble terrace. Taj Mahal have been made by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in tribute of his wife Mumtaj Mahal. Jewel-inlaid cenotaph of Queen Mumtaj Mahal lies in dome.

There are 4 minars around Taj Mahal which is made up of white sandstone. On full moon night, Taj Mahal looks extremely beautiful.

Next day we went to see some more famous places in Agra and near Agra such as Agra Fort, Buland Darwaja (Fatehpur Sikri). We also enjoyed shopping in Fatehpur Sikri. If you are travelling to Agra, don’t forget to see these other prominent place.

Travelling in India is a pleasurable experience for anyone who is well known about the culture and about Indian travel facilities. I have travelled a lot in India and leaving some exceptions I am pretty impressed by the travel options available. Although most of the travel facilities are not that much comfortable and punctual than it used to be in advanced countries, but if you plan your trip well in advance than you can not only enjoy your trips, but travelling will also be a great experience.

Till now I have mostly used flights to travel in India. Flight services in India are good and connect almost each major city. I am pretty much used to Jet Airways India but other services such as Kingfisher, Indigo and SpiceJet also provide good services. Jet Airways begin the 2nd largest domestic service provider has a major share in Indian travel economy. Jet Airways provides flights to almost every city in India.

Last month I had a chance to visit Bangalore for a business meeting and it was a great journey. I took an Indigo flight instead of my regular choice Jet Airways. It took me around 2 hours to reach Bangalore and it was a comfortable experience. I really liked the services provided by Indigo airlines.

Next day I took Flights to Mumbai and after attending a meeting there, I thought of visiting the city. Church gate and Juhu Beach are the most visited tourist places in Mumbai. Our Jammu Yatraa Experince

It was the month of February when we a group of 5 friends decided to travel to Jammu to visit Vaishno Devi, the most pious place according to Hindu mythology. It was the time when Jammu was facing heave snowfall and roads were closed due to this. But we decided to try our luck.

We started at 4 PM from New Delhi Railway Station and reached Jammun Tavi station at 7 AM next day. We moved to Katra and reached there at around 10 AM. It was our luck that wheather was charming that time and to our surprise there was nice sunshine at that time. Roads were open and we were free to start our journey to Vaishno Devi cave.

Vaishno Devi Shrine is situated on the top of Trikuta Hilla at a height of 1700 m. This cave is around 30 m long and 1.5 m in height. At the end of the cave are shrines dedicated to the three forms of the mother goddess—Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasarasvati.

After taking bath at a local hotel and taking breakfast we started our further journey at around 11:30 AM. It is near about 12-14 KM journey from Katra to Cave.
We reached Ardhakuwari at around 5 PM and after that we moved to our final destination.

It took us around 3 more hours to reach up and we decided to book a hotel room there. We took bath there and started to the holy cave. It was a great experience for all of us. We then get back to our room and took dinner. We were so much tired and slept, deciding to rise early in the morning and move to Bhairo Baba. Next day we started our climbing for Bhairo Baba. On the roads there was accumulation of Snow and it was a great experience. We were back to Vaishno Devi shrine at around 1 PM. After than we started going down to Katra and reached their at 5 PM.

We had a railway reservation at 7 PM from Jammu Tavi station. We reached Delhi next day in the morning.

This was a great travel experience for all of us and is unforgettable. Jammu Yatraa was amazing and you must visit there once in your lifetime.

Udaipur Yaatra: An Unforgettable Journey

Visit to Udaipur is an amazing journey. Places like Lake Palace etc. are really great that are worth visiting. Maharana Pratap Memorial is also great place that you must visit.

We had a trip to Udaipur back in December 2008. Delhi to Udaipur is around 678 Km and it takes around 12 hours to reach Udaipur from Delhi by Bus while a train travel takes around 12 hours. The weather was cold but it was feeling great in the morning.

The major hotels in Udaipur are Udaivilas and Trident. We stayed at Trident and it was a memorable stay. The hotel provided good facilities and comfort at affordable prices. Udaivilas is also a famous hotel with a historical look and architecture.

Next day we visited City Palace, on the east bank of Lake Pichola. This palace is known for its terraces, garden corridors and balconies. A garden Saheliyon-ki-bari is also worth visiting and there are magical fountains which start working whenever you clap. This garden is worth visiting if you are travelling to Udaipur.

You can also enjoy puppet show which is a traditional art of Rajashatan. In an all journey to Udaipur was great and memorable. I am very fond of travelling and travelling new places, but Udaipur is different then all. It was a part of my India Yaatra and it was great.
